Spring is here…almost

Technically the calendar told us it is Spring but in typical Wisconsin fashion, it isn’t. April has delivered us more snow than we’d like (speaking for the Alvarado Real Estate Group team). To assist in the “excitement” of Spring cleaning and home projects, we are spicing it up.

First, we love this blog post from HGTV. It has a list of eight fun ways to usher in Spring. We love using flowers so we really appreciate #6, “Bring Nature Inside.” This blog post also is a great support to all of us who want to immediately change pillows, throws, use warm fun patterns, and drink Rosé. If your ears perked up when you read that, then definitely check out what HGTV offers up. Or for a bit of a different flavor, we also like this article with great tips: Homes.com.

We noticed that “check the deck” is on a few lists. With our freezing winters it is important to take the time to make sure your deck is still a safe place to maximize outdoor square footage! This VIP Home Link article alluded to what we’ve been dreaming about – grab a pitcher of margaritas, check the deck, and then invite the neighbors over. Here is a delicious list of margaritas from the Manual to choose from! And if you discover your deck needs more maintenance than you can manage,, don’t forget we have a list of preferred local contractors for you – www.AlvaradoList.com

Boreal Emergency Preparedness Portal published an article that highlights the following important items to address seasonly:

  • Clean the gutters
  • Scrub walls, baseboards, and outlets
  • Replace filters
  • Clean faucets and showerheads
  • Clean out the dryer vent
  • Wash exterior windows
  • Check foundation vents and remove debris
  • Prep the garden
  • Test smoke alarms
  • Clean outdoor furniture
  • Clean the grill

Cleaning the grill might inspire a spontaneous dinner party. We love these BBQ master cooking tips. The article is based in Philadelphia so we suggest you go to Luna’s Groceries, Jenifer St Market, Willy St. Coop or any locally owned grocery store to prep.

To get ready for outdoor care we have some important info to share. True Value reminds us to check the lawn mower, fertilize the lawn, and aerate it. Since we are offering up local ways to celebrate after being the great responsible homeowner you are – here are some favorite places in Madison to grab some locally brewed beer: Karben 4, Giant Jones, One Barrel

However you find yourself getting ready for Spring, we hope this was helpful. As you know, Spring happens to be an incredibly busy time for home shopping and our team is working all hours to help their clients. If you know of anyone thinking about moving this year, please reach out and connect us with your friends and family. Happy Spring!
