Local Spotlight: Off the Block pizzas now available at Willy Street Co-op!

Mentoring Positives Off the Block pizza staff

Mentoring Positives has exciting news! Off the Block pizza is now available at all three Willy Street Co-op locations! This is a big move for this social enterprise. You can purchase the   ‘On Wisconsin’ Cheese whole wheat crust pizza and the ‘On Wisconsin’ Cheese “NEW” Green Bay white crust pizza.

Mentoring Positives started its Off the Block program back in 2004 as a salsa project. The program had participants nurture an acre of tomatoes and peppers to produce salsa to help support the program. Now, the salsa is professionally produced in Door County. You can purchase the salsa at Metcalfe, Willy Street Coop, and Regent Street Market.

In 2016, Off the Block Pizza emerged. It was a way to expand Mentoring Positives’ social entrepreneurship venture and bring another exciting product to the Off the Block brand. This new brand extension started as an internship program to provide real-world experience to its youth participants. As of 2020, they were licensed to produce pizzas at FEED Kitchens in Madison. Today, the youth are still involved in every aspect of making the pizza and hit a weekly goal of making 150 pizzas a week.

Head to any Willy St Co-op to support Mentoring Positives and try one of its Off the Block Pizzas. You will love it! You can also order pizza and salsa through their online store. To learn more about the amazing work that Mentoring Positives does, visit their website: Mentoring Positives.
